Summer vacation is a period that your child always looks forward to. Not having to wake up early and go to school is a dream come true for him. But with nothing to do, he is going to get bored really soon. One thing to ensure that your child stays busy and makes his holidays productive are by making a summer to do list. There should be a few things that your child should accomplish by the end of the day, such as –
1) Chores
Tell your child to do certain chores throughout the day such as make his bed, fold laundry, take the dog for a walk etc. You can decide how many chores you want to give per day. If you are making your child mow the lawn grass one day then maybe he can relax for the rest of the day and enjoy some time on the play station.
2) Self care
Your child might need reminders for personal grooming. Include those things in the to do list and he will do them happily as it will give him the satisfaction of striking the thing off the list. Things like brush your teeth, trim your nails, comb your hair, put on sunscreen, take your vitamins etc. can easily be incorporated in the list.
3) Physical Activity
Physical activity is essential for the growth and development of your child. If you want them to be fit and healthy it is important for them to engage in at least thirty minutes of exercise on a daily basis. You can ask them to run around the field for thirty minutes in the morning or late evening or to play a sport.
4) Some brain storming activity
Brain needs regular exercise too. Make it a daily routine for your child to engage in some brain storming activity such as completing a puzzle from scratch or playing sudoku. You can ask him to paint or draw as well.
Hopefully these tips will help you ensure that your child has a busy and productive summer!
